Mountain biking in Ireland and particularly Northern Ireland has exploded in popularity over the last few years, developing from a niche pastime to one enjoyed regularly by the masses, supported by purpose built trails and infrastructure, and in-turn providing fun, fitness and investment.
Rock and Ride Outdoors has been deeply involved in this development with Ian witnessing first-hand the rapid change from rarely meeting another biker in the woods to sharing an ever-growing network of trails with an endless number of enthusiasts within the space of just a decade.
In bringing his experience and qualification as an MBLA tutor to the Mournes, Ian has been at the forefront of developing the sport through training guides and instructors, creating a new generation of responsible trail users. He continues to provide the Internationally recognised and respected MBLA qualifications which are currently used by many guides and outdoor professionals throughout the World.
He has also brought top-level mountain bike specific coaching to the Emerald Isle, taking influence from decades of experience riding, racing and instructing and honing an approach that has seen him work with thousands of riders from total beginners to World Cup Winners and even the odd Hollywood A-Lister! He loves helping all standards of rider rapidly develop their skills in a fun and pressure-free environment and has yet to find a single biker who hasn’t benefitted from detailed observation, feedback and his innovative, relaxed coaching style.
Whether riding XC, Enduro or Downhill is your thing, the Mournes mountain bike trails are truly World Class, both natural and man-made and represent the perfect venue to come and enjoy some biking exploits.
